Medals for middle distance runners at the Eastern Athletics Championships
Well done to everyone who competed at the Eastern Athletics Championships yesterday in Cambridge.
Congratulations to Fraser and Oliver from the boys endurance squad who both came away with medals:
Fraser - 1st U16 Boys 1500m
Oliver - 2nd U16 Boys 3000m
Emily wins debut ultramarathon
Congratulations to Emily Bousfield who was the 1st female finisher in The Ridgeway Chase 60K on Saturday 30th May. Finishing 3rd overall in a time of 6:40:24, this was Emily's first ever ultramarathon.
Medals for the Pole Vaulters at Eastern Athletics Championships 30th May
Our Bedford and County Pole Vault squad had a successful day at the Eastern Athletics Championships in Cambridge yesterday, bringing home 4 medals.

Bernard Wells
Older members will be sad to learn of the passing of Bernard Wells a few days short of his 91st birthday.
Bernard was a stalwart member of the club fulfilling many different roles. He not only served as club secretary (and also that of the County AAA) but also as Trophy Steward for more than a decade. An obsessive runner over the country and on the road (including the London Marathon) he was for many years a meticulous organiser of the club's cross country and road promotions.
SAL Match 1
Saturday 16th May saw our first Southern Athletics League (SAL) match of the season at Milton Keynes.
A closely fought match saw Milton Keynes come out on top with Bedford fairly close behind.
Overall Team Results were:

2 Bedford & County 214 points
3 Biggleswade 175 points
4 Northampton 145 points
5 Vale of Aylesbury 42 points

First Eastern Masters League of the year at Milton Keynes, 6th May
Wednesday 6th May saw the first match in the Eastern Masters League at Milton Keynes.
Bedford's Men were seeking to retain their title which they won last September at Thurrock, beating local rivals Marshall Milton Keynes AC into 2nd place.
Bedford's Women were seeking to qualify for the Final again as they did last year for the first time in over 20 years.
There are 16 teams in the League spread across East Anglia with 5 teams in Bedford's West Division.

Success in the throws at Bedfordshire County Champs
We had great success in the U14G Discus at the Bedfordshire County Championships, held on the 9th and 10th May. 1st, 2nd and 3rd place were all from Beds and County, well done to Olive, Layla and Malia for their outstanding performances.
Olive also won the shot and javelin, taking her gold medal total up to 3, after her huge 4m PB for discus of 24.46m.

Congratulations to Andrew Leach, who ran the 1500m in 4 min 56.0 to set a new M60 record last week at the EMAC Track & Field League Match 1 at Milton Keynes.
